About YouthBy
YouthBy helps families find local programs without having to piece together dozens of separate websites. Sports, arts, STEM, camps and community activities belong in one place, alongside the details that help a family decide.
The project grew out of NewtonYouthSports, a local resource built around the questions parents ask: Is this right for my child's age? Where does it meet? What does it cost? When do I need to register? YouthBy brings that approach to more Massachusetts communities, town by town.
Our role is to organize published information and make the route to the provider clearer. Each town guide brings together opportunities from local organizations, municipal departments, studios, schools, libraries and other community providers. Coverage develops as we find and check more information.
What a listing tries to answer
A useful listing needs more than an activity name. We aim to show the published age or grade range, program location, fee and time period, schedule, eligibility and registration information. When a detail is unknown, that should remain visible — an unpublished fee says so rather than being filled in with a guess.
That is also why every listing links to the page it came from. Where a source disagrees with itself, or a provider publishes something we could not confirm, the research page explains what we do with it.
How the guides are organized
A guide is a town, because that is how families search: what is near me, and what can we actually get to. Inside a guide, programs sit in five groups — Sports, Arts, STEM, Camps, and After-school & life skills — with the twelve sports one level down under Sports.
To look across every town at once, browse by category or search in a sentence: “My 9-year-old loves Minecraft. Weekends, under $200.”
Telling us something is wrong
Know something we missed, or spotted a detail that has changed? Send a program suggestion or report a listing issue. Keeping a local guide useful depends on both reliable sources and community feedback, and a correction is checked against the source before the public listing changes.
