Youth programs in Belmont are run by several separate organizations — the municipality, the school district, independent volunteer clubs and private studios. Here is what is actually here, who runs it, and where you register.
Belmont Public Schools is organized in three tiers, and the tier your child is in shapes what they can actually sign up for:
Four elementary schools, grades K–3 — Burbank, Butler, Winn Brook and Wellington. Chenery Upper Elementary takes grades 4–6, Belmont Middle School grades 7–8, and Belmont High School grades 9–12.
That matters more than it looks. Almost every after-school program in this guide is tied to one named school — Burbank's workshop program is Burbank's, Butler's extended day is Butler's. Which elementary your child attends decides which of those they can use. If you are looking at a provider's page that still says “K–4”, it predates the current structure.
Belmont's adaptive and inclusive recreation is run jointly with Watertown. S.P.O.R.T. and the Recreation Therapy programs register through Belmont's system and are open to families in both towns — which means they appear in both guides on this site. The sessions are mostly held here, at Beech Street Center.

There is no single Belmont signup. A family ends up in one of these, and none of them talk to each other.
The town department, registering through belmontma.myrec.com. It runs the largest share of listings here: sports clinics, swim, archery, parkour, music, art, cooking and the seasonal camps. Many of its classes are taught by outside vendors, so one recreation listing can look quite different from the one beside it.
The largest after-school provider in town, running separate programs at Burbank, Chenery, Belmont Middle and the high school. Each site has its own tuition. Note that BASEC is not the only one: Butler has its own extended day program (BEDP), Winn Brook has its own extended learning, and Wellington has its own student care. Four schools, four different providers, four different fee schedules.
Wellington, Butler, Burbank and Winn Brook each run after-school enrichment through their parent-teacher organizations, on their own registration and with their own financial-aid arrangements. A PTO program is open to that school's pupils, not to Belmont generally.
Belmont Soccer Association, Belmont Youth Basketball, Belmont Youth Baseball & Softball, Belmont Youth Hockey, Belmont Youth Lacrosse and Belmont Youth Field Hockey are separately incorporated and run their own registrations. The town publishes a directory; the directory is a list, not a shared signup.
Powers Music School, Attacca, the Russian School of Mathematics, Kumon, Chess Quest, STEAM FUN and the rest each take their own enrollments. Belmont Day School and Belmont Hill School run their own programs too — and their after-school care is for their students, while their vacation and summer camps are generally open to the public. Those are different rules on the same provider, so read the individual listing.
Belmont's town summer camp page still displays the 2025 calendar and its 2025 fees. Rather than publish a stale price, the camp listings here carry the program and no fee — the card says to ask the provider. The same applies to several camp providers whose 2026 dates are not yet posted.

Not an inventory of every field in Belmont — just the venues that actually appear in the program listings on this site.
Most town recreation classes and nearly all school-run enrichment happens in these, after the school day.

Belmont has no umbrella youth sports body, so this is the range of organizations that appear in this guide — town department, school providers, volunteer clubs and private studios, side by side.
A note on fees: where an organization does not publish its price, the listing says so and carries no cost band rather than a guessed figure. Nothing here is presented as free unless the provider says it is free.
